Environmental conditions, spatial information, virtual and physical navigation, social media, or biosensors, define quantitative or qualitative information that can be used to adjust and personalize our surrounding environments. With the development of computational media systems (sensor interfaces, communication networks, cloud services, middleware software, and actuators), it becomes possible to create links between data and real-life processes, establish important automation, or suggest alternative and imaginative interactions. In this instance, the work demonstrates a novel way of establishing connections between isolated sensor readings with projected visualizations, as well as using a number of data inputs to interactively control the media of the interior space (such as the lighting conditions). By extracting specific indications from social media using sentiment analysis, it becomes possible to directly configure the media properties of the interior space as a multi-dimensional canvas.
Exhibited in The HYBRID CITY II: Subtle rEvolutions 2013, an international biennale event dedicated to exploring the emergent technological character of the city.
